Bone defects in patients, caused by traumatic injury, infection, osteoporosis or the removal of tumors can be difficult to treat and often prove a challenge for orthopedic surgeons. With bone injuries common among the elderly, aging populations mean there is increased need for bone grafts to treat these patients.
